DescriptionDescription Michelin Energy XM2+ 185/70 R13 86T
The scope of application of the Michelin Energy XM2+ summer tire is compact and medium-sized passenger cars. It represents an improved version of the XM2 model, from which the tread pattern design was "borrowed". Many more changes were made to the internal structure of the tire and the rubber compound used in its manufacture. This made it possible to significantly improve all the key operational properties.
Lamellae of variable depth
A significant part of the solutions was used in the previous model. One of them is lamellae of variable depth. Narrow slits as the tread wears out become longer, which compensates for the decrease in their depth. As a result, the grip properties on a wet surface remain virtually unchanged throughout the life of the tire.
Updated rubber compound
One of the most significant innovations in this tire is the rubber compound. The composition of the compound includes silica in the form of even smaller particles. This made it possible to further increase the content of this component in the rubber compound. This solution significantly improved the tire's grip at low temperatures, primarily on a wet, rainy surface.
The compound includes so-called "functional" polymers. At the molecular level, they increase the uniformity of the compound, as well as its strength and resistance to rupture and stretching. This significantly increased the resistance of the tread to abrasive wear, as well as its ability to maintain integrity during prolonged heating and high-speed driving. As a result, the tire's service life was increased by 7-10% compared to the previous model.
Reinforced sidewalls
The service life of the tire was also increased due to the use of reinforced sidewalls as part of the Ironflex technology. The use of special synthetic materials in the cord with increased peak loads on rupture and stretching made it possible to significantly reduce the risk of mechanical damage to this component of the tire, increasing reliability during operation in the city and on roads with poor surface quality.
Key features:
- lamellae of variable depth provide reliable grip properties on a wet surface throughout the life of the tire;
- the rubber compound with updated components improves the key operational properties of the tire;
- reinforced sidewalls increase durability when using the tire in urban conditions and on poor roads.
