The Maxxis MA-SPW Presa Spike winter studded passenger tire, produced by the well-known Taiwanese company, is designed for operation on small and medium-sized passenger cars. This tire was developed with European natural conditions in mind.
A distinctive feature of the original design of the directional symmetric tread pattern is the large number of individual blocks with zigzag edges, which, according to the manufacturer, provides excellent traction when driving on snowy and icy roads.
The tread pattern of the Maxxis MA-SPW Presa Spike tire consists of a central, continuous, zigzag-shaped rib, two rows of individual blocks with complex geometry, and shoulder areas, which are essentially two additional rows of individual blocks.
The central rib provides the tire with excellent directional stability and short response time to steering movements. The original shape of the two rows of blocks located in the central part of the tread also provides excellent handling characteristics when driving on snow and ice. The very wide shoulder areas significantly improve the tire's resistance to lateral skidding, and the multitude of sharp edges further improve the traction and passability characteristics when driving on snowy surfaces. Another distinctive feature of the tread pattern is the presence of numerous transverse wavy lamellas, which allow the tire to literally grip the icy surface, providing stable and comfortable driving on ice.
Main features of the Maxxis MA-SPW Presa Spike tire
- excellent traction when driving on snow and ice, thanks to the elasticity of the tire even at negative temperatures;
- a unique tread pattern design, saturated with numerous transverse wavy lamellas, significantly improved traction on snowy surfaces, as well as increased the effectiveness of braking on snow;
- low noise level, thanks to the optimized scheme of placing tread elements.
