All-season tire with the possibility of studding Matador MPS-115, produced by the most well-known in our country Slovak manufacturer, was specially designed for commercial vehicles of small capacity - minibuses, light trucks and vans. This model is produced in five sizes with a landing size of 15 and 16 inches, which indicates the excellent applicability of this tire to most models of commercial vehicles.
The design of the tread was chosen based on the specifics of the application. In this case, preference was given to the classic for light truck tires non-directional symmetrical S-shaped tread pattern. Like a high-quality tire for a small-tonnage commercial vehicle, the tread is equipped with four main elements - two central ribs and two shoulder zones.
Since the Matador MPS-115 Variant 2 tire is designed, among other things, for winter operation, the two central ribs consist of two rows of separate blocks. Such a structure of the central part of the tread provided a number of important advantages.
In particular, the numerous edges formed by the blocks provide high efficiency of acceleration and braking, especially on slippery surfaces. In addition, the massiveness of the blocks contributes to a more even distribution of the external load over the contact patch, which has a beneficial effect not only on the stability of the contact patch size but also on the durability of the tire. Also, the massiveness of the tread elements and the small distance between them made it possible to significantly reduce the rolling resistance, which led to an improvement in an important indicator for commercial transportation - fuel efficiency.
Another characteristic feature of this model is the presence of wave-like lamellas on the surface of the tread blocks, which, when in contact with the surface, self-lock, significantly increasing the stiffness of the blocks. This made it possible to improve the main working characteristics of the tire - handling, resistance to deformation, rolling resistance, and others.
Main features of Matador MPS-115 Variant 2
- Optimized S-shaped design of the symmetrical non-directional tread pattern provides reliable traction in any conditions, as well as low rolling resistance;
- A large number of blocks equipped with wave-like lamellas made it possible to operate the tire in winter conditions;
- Longitudinal zigzag-shaped grooves, thanks to which the tire demonstrates excellent resistance to aquaplaning.
