The Matador MP-30 Sibir Ice 2 SUV tire is an improved version of the same model for passenger cars. The goal of the changes was to adapt the design for use on SUVs and crossovers. That's why this model differs from the increased size of the contact patch and a reinforced frame and breaker.
One of the key features of this tire is the technology used in the studding of the tread. First of all, this is the optimized location of these elements. Thanks to the use of computer modeling tools, the studs wear out evenly, demonstrate maximum performance on ice, generate a minimum of noise and vibration. In addition, it is worth noting the use of aluminum housings for hard alloy inserts, which reduces the weight of the tire.
Another characteristic feature of this model is the use of two different types of lamellas. In the central part of the tread, straight lamellas are used. The edges formed by them increase the efficiency of the tire when accelerating, as well as its resistance to aquaplaning. In turn, in the shoulder zones, 3D-lamellas are located, connected by special blockers. With their help, the mobility of the entire block as a whole is limited, which has a positive effect on handling and also allowed increasing the number of lamellas, thereby improving traction on rolled snow and ice.
