The Marshal PorTran KC53 summer light truck tire is a complete copy of the same-named model from Kumho, which today owns the rights to this brand. Like the "original", it is designed for all kinds of small-capacity commercial vehicles. Another key feature of this model is its excellent applicability, ensured by a very wide range of sizes, with several dozen types of sizes for wheels with a landing diameter from 14 to 16 inches.
Exceptional durability
When presenting this model to the world press, the manufacturer's representatives particularly noted its durability. According to the data provided on the results of tests conducted on behalf of the company, the service life of this tire is at least 58% longer than that of similar products from other brands. Such significant indicators were achieved thanks to a number of technical solutions of varying degrees of originality.
First of all, this is a rubber compound that has the latest materials. They gave it unique properties, from increased elasticity to very high resistance to abrasive and uneven wear.
Another important component that provided the tire with enviable durability is the carcass. It is distinguished by a reinforced multi-layer structure, including a steel breaker, among other things. This feature allows the tire to very evenly distribute the external load over the entire surface of the contact patch with the road surface.
Four longitudinal ribs
A significant part of the excellent traction properties of the Marshal PorTran KC53 under any weather and road conditions is provided by the symmetrical non-directional tread pattern. Its design includes four longitudinal ribs, separated from each other by the same number of drainage grooves. These tread elements are distinguished by massive sizes, which, in combination with their location, optimize the distribution of external pressure on the contact patch. In addition to the increased carrying capacity, this design feature gives the tire a number of other important advantages. The main one is very stable handling, which remains reliable and predictable even in the most unfavorable road and weather conditions.
In addition to the massive size, the tread ribs are distinguished by very high stiffness, and therefore resistance to dynamic deformation. The practical result of this feature is excellent directional stability when driving at any speed, as well as low rolling resistance, which provides the tire with excellent fuel economy.
Z-shaped lamellas
Unlike the shoulder areas, the two longitudinal ribs located in the central part of the tread contain many Z-shaped lamellas. These tread elements, when in contact with the road surface, form a large number of transverse edges of adhesion, which, due to the massive size of the longitudinal ribs, are of significant length. This design feature allows the tire to demonstrate excellent traction properties in the longitudinal direction, i.e. during acceleration and braking.
Short braking distance
Among other characteristic features of this model, one cannot but note the short braking distance it demonstrates, both on dry and wet roads. To a large extent, this ability has appeared in it due to the original design of the shoulder areas. They are distinguished not only by massive sizes but also by the presence of a significant number of adhesion edges located transversely to the direction of movement.
