The summer tire Kumho Ecsta PS91, like other models in this line, is designed specifically for the most "charged" versions of serial passenger cars. It is distinguished by uncompromising traction properties and sports handling in any weather conditions. The tire design is calculated for its use on racing tracks.
Tread with functional areas
Today, most new tires of the South Korean brand are equipped with treads with functional zones. This model is no exception, but due to its focus, it differs significantly from its analogs. The functional areas of its tread, although noticeably different from each other, have such a design that ensures maximum traction properties and handling responsiveness, regardless of the characteristics of the road surface and driving mode.
"Hard" center
More than half of the tread area is occupied by three longitudinal ribs in the center. These elements have a composite structure, the parts of which are connected by rigid bridges. Together with massive dimensions, such longitudinal ribs are extremely resistant to deformation changes, which guarantees the stability of traction properties when moving at high speed and sharp changes in direction.
C-Cut 3D
This model was one of the first where the South Korean tire makers applied the C-Cut 3D technology. Its essence lies in the optimized profile of the block sidewalls in the shoulder zones. Their shape gives the tread elements in the shoulder zones additional stability, which limits their mobility in the longitudinal direction. This solution significantly improved the efficiency of the tread when slowing down, thanks to which the tire demonstrates a shorter braking distance and stability of traction properties.
