Description Kenda K547 Speedracer
In some countries, particularly in the US, the Kenda K547 tire is not permitted for use on public roads. This restriction is due to its rather specific area of application. It is designed for modern "supermoto" quad bikes, which can be found mainly on racing tracks with solid dirt or asphalt surfaces. Also, it's worth noting another feature of this tire. It is designed to be used in conjunction with the K546 model, which is installed on the front axle. This tire, accordingly, should be installed exclusively on the rear axle.
"Asphalt" tread pattern
Externally, this model is more similar to a passenger car tire, differing only in size. It features a tread with a fairly aggressive V-shaped design, divided into several functional zones. Its central part, which is a very wide longitudinal rib, improves directional stability and also optimizes the distribution of external pressure on the contact patch, which in turn improves a number of technical characteristics. First and foremost, this is a reduction in rolling resistance, an increase in stability of traction properties.
The shoulder zones of the tread of this tire contain very wide blocks, arranged at a fairly sharp angle relative to the direction of movement. This allows, on the one hand, to give the tire excellent longitudinal traction properties, and on the other hand, to reduce rolling resistance, as well as increase the accuracy and speed of response to steering wheel turns.
Despite the obvious focus on asphalt, this model demonstrates quite high performance on dirt surfaces as well. This became possible due to the large distance between the tread blocks of the shoulder zones. Due to this feature, the tread is effectively cleaned of even large stones that get into it, not to mention smaller dirt particles.
Two carcass options
Depending on the size, this tire uses a carcass with different layering. Small-sized models are equipped with a 4-layer carcass, and large ones with a 6-layer carcass. In both cases, the developers used a synthetic cord made using a seamless winding technology. As a result, the carcass is a very durable, yet lightweight structure that improves handling at high speeds and reliability.
Key features of the Kenda K547 Speedracer tire
- The tire is designed for use on hard surfaces, including asphalt;
- The wide longitudinal rib improves stability at high speeds;
- The massive blocks of the shoulder zones improve grip in turns, and due to the very long transverse edges, give the tire exceptional effectiveness during braking and acceleration;
- The sturdy 4- or 6-layer carcass provides the tire with a low weight and significant carrying capacity.
