Asymmetric tread pattern
One of the key features of the asymmetric tread pattern of the Headway HU901 tire is the clear division into two functional zones. The inner side of the tread provides stability when cornering, and the outer side provides directional stability when driving straight. In accordance with these tasks, both "halves" have a different design.
The outer part of the tread consists of a narrow shoulder area and a wide longitudinal rib, consisting of two rows of massive rectangular blocks. The rigid design of the longitudinal rib made it possible to achieve excellent directional stability, as well as precise handling. Additionally, its integral design in combination with the small size of the shoulder area on the outer side of the tread made it possible to significantly reduce rolling resistance.
The inner side of the tread pattern consists of two longitudinal ribs located in the central part, as well as another shoulder area. All these elements are distinguished by massive sizes, which made the outer side of the tread very rigid. In practice, these technical tricks resulted in excellent resistance to lateral skidding when cornering.
