Hankook RH17 Ventus S2 AS X – a tire for SUVs and crossovers that is positioned by the manufacturer as a year-round use tire. However, this is with consideration of operation in regions with European winters. In our realities, the model is more suitable for summer use on paved surfaces, demonstrating directional stability, maneuverability, fuel efficiency, as well as a high level of comfort.
The tire was developed with modern requirements in mind. This is reflected in the asymmetric tread, the basis of which consists of three medium-sized ribs located in the center. They provide stability of the vehicle during straight-line movement and also contribute to increased maneuverability. The enlarged shoulder areas optimize the stability of the car when performing turns and U-turns, making the ride safer.
Each of the ribs is equipped with numerous lamellas and grooves passing through the elements and opening into the central channels. On the one hand, they are part of the drainage system, reducing the risk of aquaplaning to a minimum, and on the other hand, they increase the effectiveness of traction and adhesion properties, preventing lateral and longitudinal shifts.
A special rubber compound was used here, which contains a number of polymer additives. They provide improved fixation of the contact area and also reduce the intensity of wear. This has resulted in an increase in the service life and preservation of high working characteristics.
