The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 summer tire is installed on the most dynamic versions of passenger cars of various classes. It replaced the Asymmetric 3 model. According to the manufacturer's statements, it significantly surpasses its predecessor in all major characteristics, while demonstrating the "signature" features of the "Eagle" line of tires.
Braking Efficiency
One of the key advantages of the tire is its shortened braking distance compared to most similar models from other brands. This is largely due to the use of the latest version of the Active Braking technology. By changing the tread pattern and, along with it, the shape and size of the blocks, it has become even more effective. Thanks to the increased contact patch size during longitudinal accelerations, the grip becomes more stable, reducing the braking distance and preventing slippage during acceleration.
Additional Cord in the Breaker
Another technological innovation was the appearance of an additional Power Cushion cord in the breaker, made of aramid. This polymeric material, in the form of densely intertwined fibers, has "steel" strength with an extremely low weight. This component is located directly under the tread, providing it with additional resistance to deformation. As a result, the accuracy of handling, directional stability, and feedback are improved, especially when driving at high speeds.
Optimized Tread Pattern
Perhaps the only similarity with the previous model is the tread pattern, which, with slight modifications, was borrowed almost entirely. It still features massiveness and asymmetric arrangement of elements. The central part contains two wide ribs, guaranteeing directional stability, accuracy, and quick response during maneuvering. The massive blocks on the inside prevent slippage during acceleration. The very wide elements on the outside ensure confident behavior during maneuvering, preventing uneven wear of the tread.
