Despite its loud name, the summer tire Dunlop SP Street Response 2 is designed for inexpensive compact passenger cars. Being developed on the basis of the previous generation model, it differs from it with higher operational characteristics. Their improvement was achieved through the use of the latest developments in its design, "borrowed" from the arsenal of the company Goodyear, which today owns the renowned British brand.
Two variants of the tread pattern
Dunlop SP Street Response 2 is offered by the manufacturer in two versions, differing only in the tread pattern. Depending on the size, it can contain three or four longitudinal ribs. At the same time, 4-ribbed modifications have a more "advanced" asymmetric design, which is not surprising, given their high speed indices.
Short braking distance on a wet road
The greatest superiority over its predecessor Dunlop SP Street Response 2 demonstrates when braking on a wet road. This is achieved through the use of several technical solutions. First of all, it is the rounded shape of the contact patch, ensured by optimizing the tread profile. As another measure that allowed giving the tire increased efficiency when slowing down on a wet road, there are numerous transverse traction edges. In addition to a significant number, they are distinguished by a large extent. These same tread elements significantly reduce the braking distance on a dry road.
Increased resistance to aquaplaning of the Dunlop SP Street Response 2
As mentioned earlier, this model, depending on the size, can be equipped with a 3- or 4-ribbed tread pattern. In both cases, very wide and deep drainage grooves are located between the longitudinal ribs, serving as a kind of reservoir for the water being removed from the contact patch. Then it is output to the outside through numerous transverse drainage grooves, which provides the tire with excellent resistance to aquaplaning.
Multiradial tread profile
The aforementioned optimized tread profile, in addition to improving braking efficiency, gives the tire several other important operational properties. Most of them are a direct consequence of increasing the size of the contact patch. First of all, this is traction on a dry road. In addition, the use of a tread with a variable curvature profile ensures a more even distribution of external pressure, which, in turn, prevents uneven wear.
Main features:
- two versions - with three or four longitudinal tread ribs;
- increased braking efficiency on a wet road, thanks to the oval shape of the contact patch and very long transverse traction edges;
- wide and deep longitudinal drainage grooves improve resistance to aquaplaning;
- a tread profile with variable curvature gives stability to the traction properties, reduces the likelihood of uneven wear;
- the ball filler in the rim provides a more dense fit of the tire to the wheel disk, which improves handling, and also gives the tire's reactions even more speed and accuracy.
