Dunlop SP Sport 01
Tire specifications
DescriptionDescription Dunlop SP Sport 01
The summer passenger tire Dunlop SP Sport 01 is addressed to drivers who prefer an aggressive driving style. At the same time, the make and model of the car practically do not matter, since this model is produced in an exceptionally wide range of sizes with a diameter of 14 to 21 inches.
Specialists of the company have developed a completely new asymmetric tread pattern, called Tri-AreaTread, specifically for this tire. As the name suggests, the tread pattern consists of three functional zones, each designed to solve a specific problem. This design solution is intended to provide an optimal balance of operational characteristics when driving in various road conditions.
The central part of the Dunlop SP Sport 01 tread is occupied by four longitudinal ribs, which have a solid and therefore rigid structure. Due to this, the tire demonstrates exceptional stability when driving even at very high speeds.
The shoulder zone of the tread, located on its inner side, mainly performs a drainage function, providing high resistance to aquaplaning. It is this part of the tread that is equipped with so-called "hydroblades", i.e. a system of drainage channels, the shape of which resembles blades. Their curved shape prevents the formation of vortices in water flows, which increases the speed of water passing through these channels.
The outer side of the tread pattern consists of separate blocks. Their sharp edges contribute to an increase in the effectiveness of braking, especially on a slippery road.
Another innovation was the additional layer of the carcass made of nylon fibers wound using a seamless technology. This layer provides a more even distribution of external pressure over the contact patch due to the stability of the tire shape, which not only made it possible to achieve more confident behavior at high speeds but also effectively prevents the occurrence of uneven wear.
The main features of the Dunlop SP Sport 01 tire
- The unique Tri-AreaTread tread provides an ideal balance of operational characteristics regardless of road conditions;
- Exceptional resistance to aquaplaning due to the special shape of the drainage channels in the shoulder zone of the tread;
- Four rigid longitudinal ribs, which ensure that the tire demonstrates exceptional stability when driving even at very high speeds.

A tire made in Germany in dimensions 215/55/R16 deteriorated very little losing its properties, retaining traction on asphalt when braking, turning at high speed with a clear response to steering due to its stiff, reinforced sidewall and several potholes on the road left no marks on the tire. It lasted 30000 km.

Hello! I've already written a review about Dunlop SP Sport 01 225/50/17 before replacing them with the same brand, so I'll keep it short. I bought them in 2015 in Moscow in the winter at Mosavtoшин. They were delivered on time to the Altai region. The four delivered tires were made in the UK, while the originals were made in Germany. The only difference was the load index. I think the deep grooves will last a

They were on the factory "Comfort" trim. The car was from 2012. The wheels were stamped steel. The tire is good, but not on all modes. It doesn't like wet asphalt (the worst fault when starting is slipping), but it didn't let down. On the mud and snow, it's absolutely not (it doesn't slow down and "floats"). On dry asphalt, it's especially good when warmed up. I drove with it for four years (at least
