Relating to the line of sports models Sport Maxx, the Dunlop SP 9 summer tire for passenger cars offers a set of operational properties, where stability on turns and reliable grip on wet surfaces prevail. The developers managed to preserve comfort and durability, necessary for daily operation, at the same time.
To a significant extent, such versatility is achieved due to the carcass with a 2-layer polyester cord in the base. On top of it, there is a two-layer steel breaker, additionally reinforced with nylon reinforcement using the Hybrid Jointless Belt technology. Thanks to this, the tire retains its resistance to deformation at high speeds and evenly distributes the pressure over the contact patch, which improves directional stability and reduces the risk of uneven wear. The reinforced sidewalls with polymer filler provide precise response to steering commands.
The tread pattern of the Dunlop SP 9 is made in an aggressive V-shaped design with very wide curved grooves in the central part, which guarantees the absence of aquaplaning at any speed. Also, in this area, there is a solid longitudinal rib with numerous "branches", which improves directional stability and steering accuracy at high speed. The shoulder zones with massive blocks improve grip when turning, providing simplicity in controlling the trajectory of movement.
During the manufacture of the tire, a Dual Silica Compound rubber mixture is used with special elastomers and an increased silicon dioxide content. Such a composition improves grip at high temperatures and retains the flexibility of the tread in cool weather, increasing the intensity of braking and the effectiveness of the tire's operation when accelerating. Additional polymer additives reduce internal friction, reducing heat generation and increasing wear resistance.
