The scope of application of the Dunlop SP 490 summer tire is compact passenger cars. The tread pattern has a non-directional design with a symmetrical arrangement of elements. It is characterized by a large number of longitudinal edges and a significant extent of transverse edges. This allows for intense acceleration and deceleration on wet pavement. At the same time, the increased tread depth and the size of the water drainage grooves reduce the risk of aquaplaning even at high speeds. The blocks in the central part are connected by rigid "bridges". They increase the accuracy of control and directional stability, reduce rolling resistance.
