Dunlop GrandTrek PT3
Tire specifications
DescriptionDescription Dunlop GrandTrek PT3
Initially, the summer tire for SUVs and crossovers Dunlop GrandTrek PT3 was designed for Asian markets, primarily China and Japan. However, for some time now, this model has been available in our country, thanks to which domestic car enthusiasts have the opportunity to purchase a very high-quality and high-tech product at a fairly attractive cost.
Stability and reliability
When making sharp maneuvers and turns, this model differs in much more stable and reliable behavior than the previous generation tire. This was achieved due to several technical solutions. One of them is the design of the central part of the tread, consisting of three longitudinal ribs of the same size. Their rigid continuous structure contributes to a more even distribution of external load on the contact patch, and also increases its area.
In addition, the tread profile in the shoulder zones has the shape of a perfect circle. In combination with a rigid structure and massive sizes of the blocks located here, this also contributes to a more even distribution of external load on the contact patch, but already when maneuvering and turning. The ultimate result of all these technical tricks is improved traction, which does not change significantly even during very sharp maneuvers. This gives the car reliable and predictable behavior in any situation.
Shorter braking distance on wet roads
Another important advantage of this model over its predecessor is improved braking efficiency. For this, several technical solutions were also applied. First of all, it is a compound with an increased silica content. This gives the tread increased elasticity, allowing it to adhere more closely to the road surface, especially in rainy conditions. In addition, the shoulder zone blocks have a multitude of lamellas cut into them. When in contact with the road, they open up, forming numerous traction edges.
Main features of the Dunlop GrandTrek PT3 model
- stable and predictable behavior in any situation;
- excellent handling;
- shorter braking distance compared to the previous model, especially on wet roads;
- fuel efficiency and long service life, thanks to the optimized compound.

I was looking for specific summer tires for crossovers and chose this new series without any reviews, only the manufacturer's descriptions available at the time of purchase. After driving over 30,000 km, I have no regrets about my choice. The car has become much more comfortable and smooth, it brakes confidently, maintains a stable course on uneven roads and holds confidently on wet roads. However, it quickly gets dirty on a muddy off-road and sometimes slips on wet grass when going uphill, but this

Narrow, rounded, with a thick sidewall, a classic tire. Smooth ride over sleeping policemen, yet noisy. A responsive steering. The tread depth of a new one is about 8 mm. Four of the tires were balanced, one was poorly. Feels like it will last long.

I didn't exactly go off-roading, mostly asphalt, you know. But I can tell you one thing, the traction is really impressive. No sliding off the road on wet pavement and no understeer either. And on dry roads, no issues at all. But the best part is that there's no screeching during sharp turns, which I really like. Let's see what happens next. Oh, and I did drive on mountain roads with stones and cobblestones and didn't
