The Cooper Winter Master winter tire is another step forward for the well-known North American manufacturer in this field. It is further confirmation that year after year, Cooper's winter models are getting better and better. This tire is no exception to this rule, as it demonstrates comparable operating properties with the leaders in this segment, including traction and braking efficiency on snow and ice.
Productive directional tread pattern
In creating this model, the experience gained from developing previous models was used. One of its manifestations was the directional tread pattern with a V-shaped arrangement of elements. At the same time, they were significantly reduced in size, and their number, on the contrary, was increased. As a result, the contact patch has many more gripping edges, which has a positive effect on the traction properties.
Several types of lamellas
In the absence of studs, traction on slippery surfaces is provided by numerous lamellas. In this case, the manufacturer preferred to use several types of these tread elements, striving to provide high tire performance in various road conditions. In particular, in the shoulder areas, there are wave-like lamellas. They "work" during longitudinal accelerations, improving traction during acceleration and braking, as well as in turns, limiting the lateral mobility of blocks.
In the central part, there are self-locking lamellas. When contacting the road, they increase the stiffness of the blocks, which has a positive effect on directional stability and handling responsiveness. The exception is the central longitudinal rib, the lamellas in which increase the longitudinal traction properties.
