The Cooper Weather Master studded tire is one of the innovations of the well-known North American manufacturer, offered by them on both sides of the Atlantic. Additionally, it is impossible not to note the orientation of its design to specific operating conditions in regions located near and north of the Arctic Circle. First of all, this is a characteristic tread pattern with a large number of gripping edges, as well as its compound, which remains elastic even in severe frosts.
Traction properties on winter roads
A characteristic feature of the tread pattern of this tire is its open design. It contains a large number of small blocks of complex polygonal shape. Due to this, the contact patch has a multitude of high gripping edges, which provides the tire with confident behavior on snowy roads.
Snow Groove technology
Thanks to the original polygonal shape of the tread blocks, the drainage grooves have a complex zigzag shape with numerous straight protrusions. In combination with the toothed profile of their walls, when moving on snowy roads, this allows the tread to retain some of the snow, which has a positive effect on traction, making it more stable and reliable.
D Squared lamination technology
Another innovation of this model is the D Squared lamination technology. Its essence lies in the fact that the lamellas are cut through the entire depth of the tread. As a result, the tire retains its traction properties at the initial level throughout the entire service life. At the same time, it is impossible not to note the use of two types of lamellas.
Wavy lamellas, due to the shape of their walls, limit the transverse mobility of the blocks. This leads to a significant improvement in handling and course stability. In turn, straight lamellas increase resistance to aquaplaning, diverting water from the contact patch to one of the nearby grooves. At the same time, lamellas of both types form several thousand additional gripping edges.
Main features of Cooper Weather Master
- excellent traction on any winter roads thanks to the tread pattern with a multitude of small blocks and cut-in lamellas;
- optimized compound composition with increased silica content and special polymers remains elastic even in severe frosts, demonstrating excellent tear strength at the same time.
