Description Continental UltraContact
The Continental UltraContact summer tire is suitable for most popular passenger cars. It is characterized by reliable coupling properties on wet surfaces, efficient braking, acoustic comfort, and a long service life.
Aqua Channel Lamellas
The excellent resistance of this tire to aquaplaning is largely due to the use of Aqua Channel lamellas. They are miniature pumps that intensively drain moisture from the contact patch to the longitudinal grooves, preventing the formation of a continuous water film.
Effective Braking in Any Conditions
This model extremely effectively transmits the braking force to the road surface. This is ensured by the Diamond Edge technology. The essence of the solution is a special shape of the chamfer, executed along the edges of the tread blocks. It additionally increases the contact area with the road surface, allowing for a more even distribution of pressure on it during braking. On wet surfaces, this effect is complemented by the ability to prevent the formation of a water film in the contact patch. As a result, the braking distance is further reduced.
Diamond Blend Rubber Compound
The tread of the tire is made of the Diamond Blend compound. Its key feature is the use of special polymers that activate different-length molecular bonds between the components of the rubber compound. During sharp longitudinal and transverse accelerations, "short" bonds are activated, which converts the acceleration forces acting on the tread into heat. This gives the tire additional traction, improving its grip during maneuvering, braking, and acceleration. During prolonged uniform motion, polymers with "long" molecular bonds are activated, which increases the resistance of the tread to heat, significantly reducing rolling resistance and, as a consequence, reducing fuel consumption and tire wear.
Key Features of Continental UltraContact
- Aqua Channel lamellas increase resistance to aquaplaning;
- shortened braking distance on dry and wet surfaces due to the special shape of the tread block chamfers;
- Diamond Blend rubber compound improves coupling properties during dynamic maneuvering, resistance to wear, and fuel efficiency during uniform motion.
