The Continental ContiWinterContact TS 870 P Contiseal winter tire for passenger cars is one of the versions of the same model with improved acoustic comfort characteristics. In terms of handling, both tires are identical, demonstrating reliable traction and precision in handling, regardless of road conditions.
The reduced noise and vibration level is ensured by the use of the Contiseal technology in the tire design. The essence of the solution lies in the presence of an additional layer of polyurethane foam on the inner side of the tire. The porous material effectively absorbs both noise and vibrations generated by the tire's carcass and tread elements during rolling. This allows for a significant improvement in acoustic comfort, primarily inside the vehicle's cabin.
The tire features the Triple Sipe Concept technology, which involves the use of three types of sipes in the tread. The parallel grooves located in the central part improve traction on snow and when braking on icy surfaces. Also, there are so-called "internal" grooves that additionally dry the contact patch, draining water when driving on ice. Classic 3D sipes are used on the edges of the tread, the profile of which fixes the grooves in the open position and limits the mobility of the blocks. This improves traction and handling on packed snow and wet surfaces.
The tread is made of the Cool Chili rubber compound. Its composition, in addition to the ultra-high content of "silica", is distinguished by the presence of special resins. They increase the strength of the very elastic compound against tearing and stretching, as well as its resistance to prolonged heating. As a result, rolling resistance is reduced, and the service life is increased, especially when using the tire at positive temperatures.
