Description Continental ContiVikingContact 6 ContiSeal
The Continental ContiVikingContact 6 ContiSeal winter tire is suitable for most popular passenger cars today. It represents an improved version of the same-name model. The key difference from it is the ability to independently eliminate minor penetrating damage to the tread. In motion, it is characterized by excellent traction and coupling on winter surfaces, precise handling for its category, and an increased level of acoustic comfort.
Exceptional reliability
One of the main features of this model is the ability to self-repair small penetrating damages. This is ensured by a layer of special mastic applied to the inner side of the tread. When damaged, it is pulled into the hole by the flow of air escaping from the tire, completely closing it. The seal is restored even in cases where there is a foreign object at the damage site that caused it.
Tread pattern with functional sections
The running part of the tread is made in an asymmetric design with a "signature" division for German brand products into several functional sections. This model has three of them. Each of them, interacting with each other, improves certain driving and operational qualities. As a result, the tire delights car owners with the absence of "weak points".
Maneuverability stability
The outer shoulder zone contains double blocks. These elements, turned across the movement, prevent skidding during lateral accelerations, providing stability and clear feedback on the steering wheel.
Ice stability
The central part of the tread is distinguished not so much by the high density of lamellas, but by their inclined position. It gives the coupling properties on ice greater stability. At the same time, the sinusoidal shape of the lamellas increases their length, thereby improving the coupling.
Confident behavior on snow
The inner side of the tread contains a large number of small blocks. When moving, due to their location, they form very long transverse edges. They allow the tire to effectively realize the traction effort on snow. The blocks are rigidly connected to each other by special "bridges". They, by limiting the mobility of the elements, increase the accuracy of control. It is also worth noting the presence of stepped lamellas in the grooves between the blocks. These miniature elements additionally strengthen the coupling on snow, ensuring a tighter fit of the tread to the road surface.
Increased contact patch
The running part of the tread has an optimized profile. Its shape is selected so that under load, the contact patch increases in size and becomes almost rectangular, turned across the direction of movement. This solution, in addition to the obvious advantages in the form of improved coupling, also provides another important advantage, namely, an even distribution of the car's weight over the tread area in contact with the road surface. This gives the tire stability and predictable behavior in complex road situations, reduces wear rate.
Main features:
- special mastic applied to the inner side of the tread seals small damages;
- asymmetric tread with several functional sections gives the tire balance;
- double blocks in the outer shoulder zone provide stability during maneuvering;
- the inner side of the tread with small blocks increases the traction effort on snow;
- sinusoidal lamellas improve coupling on ice;
- stepped lamellas additionally strengthen the coupling properties on snow;
- an increased contact patch of a rectangular shape gives stability on dry surfaces, increases handling accuracy, and prevents uneven wear.
