Like its predecessor without the "2" in the name, the summer passenger tire Continental ContiCrossContact LX2 is designed for crossovers and SUVs, most of which are operated on asphalt highways and dirt roads. Compared to its popular predecessor, the new product of the German tire giant boasts improved braking efficiency, both on dry and wet roads, which ensures a higher level of safety. In addition to this, the model can also boast excellent handling and low noise levels. And, of course, the Continental ContiCrossContact LX2 is perfectly suited for driving on unpaved roads and light off-road conditions.
High rigidity of the tread pattern
Since the tire was initially designed for operation mainly on roads with a solid surface, the German tire manufacturers preferred to use a symmetrical non-directional tread pattern with massive blocks. At the same time, in the central part and shoulder areas, they are connected by rigid bridges. Thanks to this technical solution, it was possible to solve several problems at once. First of all, this is the lightning-fast response of the tire to steering wheel turns, which greatly facilitated the management process. In addition, the directional stability has been significantly improved, thanks to which the tire has gained stability when driving at any speed. It is also impossible not to note the reduction of rolling resistance, which has had a very beneficial effect on fuel efficiency.
Short braking distance
Despite the relatively small number of tread blocks by modern standards, this tire is favorably distinguished by the highest braking efficiency, especially on wet roads. This ability has appeared due to the multitude of direct lamellas. These tread elements perform two functions at the same time. First of all, it is the creation of additional grip edges that appear when the lamella comes into contact with the road surface. In addition, when driving on a wet road, the sharp direct edges formed by them remove water from the contact patch, directing it into longitudinal drainage grooves. This ensures higher resistance to aquaplaning.
Long service life and low noise level
One of the key features of the tread pattern of this tire is the presence of two longitudinal ribs in the shoulder areas, which are characterized by the absence of any gaps throughout their length. Like lamellas, they are multifunctional.
First of all, they act as a noise barrier that forms in the central part of the tread when driving. Thanks to the sound-absorbing properties of these longitudinal ribs, a higher level of driving comfort is ensured.
In addition, these ribs, due to the absence of gaps, have very high structural rigidity. This property is most beneficial for the even distribution of external pressure on the contact patch. Thanks to this, it is possible to prevent the development of uneven wear, which, in turn, significantly extends the life of the tire.
Excellent traction properties on dirt roads and light off-road
Since this model is designed for crossovers and SUVs, which sometimes leave the highway, the tread pattern has incorporated technical solutions that allow you to confidently move on unpaved roads and light off-road. One of them was the complex polygonal shape of the longitudinal rib, located in the central part of the tread, as well as two rows of separate blocks located there. These tread elements form a multitude of sharp edges that provide excellent grip on unpaved roads and light off-road. At the same time, the large distance between them allows the tread to effectively get rid of the dirt particles that get stuck in it.
Size range
In addition to the above advantages, this tire has another important advantage, namely - excellent applicability. The manufacturer offers the ContiCrossContact LX2 in more than 30 different sizes for wheels with a mounting diameter from 15 to 18 inches. At the same time, most of the sizes are designed for 16- and 17-inch wheels. The size range selected in this way provides this tire with excellent applicability, allowing it to be used on almost any modern crossover or SUV.

I bought the new set of tyres to replace the old LX ones. Compared to the previous model, the new tyres are softer, more comfortable, make similar noise but are less annoying. As for the durability, I can’t say anything yet as I’ve only driven 4000 km. The new tyres are much better on rough terrain, with the Qashqai handling LX2 confidently where the Qashqai on LX would struggle with wheelspin and understeer. On dirt and gravel

Main disappointment - instead of Russian tires announced on the site, came the Romanian ones. Balance is not worthy of any criticism. The maximum weight on the wheel is 70 grams! Before, the Nokian tires were 10-20 grams. On the sidewalls, even with a careful inspection, you can see radial grooves. Apparently, the equipment is already worn out a lot. Or crooked hands. My advice is not to buy Romanian tires. Noise level is not high either.

On the second car I've got Continental CrossContact. I'm also satisfied with them, but they're a bit bigger than the premium model, but okay, not exactly for a passenger car.
