High-speed stability and smooth ride

The tire's tread pattern, although executed in a symmetrical non-directional design unusual for Continental, is divided into several functional areas. One of them is the center of the tread, where a multitude of blocks are located. They are combined into groups of three elements each. Working in a single "link", the blocks provide the tire with excellent directional stability at high speeds, a smooth and quiet ride, and on unpaved surfaces, increased traction properties, allowing for confident starts and acceleration.

Short braking distance

In contrast to the central part, where the blocks are combined into groups exclusively by their location and configuration, similar elements in the shoulder areas have a rigid physical connection to each other, ensured by special bridges. They significantly reduce the mobility of the blocks, which, in turn, increases the efficiency of their work. Since they are located in the shoulder areas, have a rectangular shape, and are arranged across the direction of movement, they are most effective during braking, as well as during acceleration and maneuvering. It is in these modes of movement that the greatest load is applied to the shoulder areas. Additionally, it is worth noting the large distance between these blocks. On unpaved surfaces, this feature significantly increases the tire's traction properties.

Effective protection against aquaplaning

The fairly open design of the tread pattern, containing a multitude of individual elements, entails the presence of a developed drainage system. The German tire makers were able to further increase the efficiency of its operation by using several effective solutions. One of them is giving the drainage grooves a curved shape. It prevents the formation of vortices in the water flow, which increases the intensity of the process of its removal from the contact patch. Additionally, most of the drainage grooves are directed against the direction of movement. This also increases the resistance to aquaplaning.

Here it is also worth noting another component of the drainage system. These are the lamellas cut in all tread blocks. They drain water into the drainage grooves, additionally drying the contact patch. At the same time, the edges formed by them further enhance the grip in rainy conditions, preventing skidding during braking, starting, and acceleration.
