The Bridgestone Potenza RE080 summer tire was specifically designed by one of the world leaders in the tire industry from Japan for compact passenger cars. This model is available in two sizes: 185/60R15 and 195/65R16. The fact that it is supplied to the assembly lines of leading Japanese manufacturers speaks to its high operational characteristics.
The tread of this model is equipped with a Z-shaped non-directional symmetric tread pattern, consisting of five longitudinal ribs. This scheme of tread element placement provided the tire with a number of advantages. In particular, the five-rib design provided the Bridgestone Potenza RE080 tire with excellent directional stability throughout the speed range. Also, the five longitudinal ribs made it possible to achieve low rolling resistance, which led to a significant improvement in fuel efficiency. It is also worth noting that all five longitudinal ribs are divided into separate blocks by transverse grooves, the sharp edges of which provide high acceleration and braking efficiency.
Another distinctive feature of this model is its high resistance to aquaplaning, which is ensured by the excellent efficiency of the tire's drainage system. This system consists of four longitudinal grooves that divide the tread into five longitudinal ribs, as well as numerous transverse grooves. Water that enters the tire's contact patch is quickly removed through the system of longitudinal and transverse grooves to the outside.
The transverse grooves divide the shoulder areas of the tread into separate blocks. This made it possible to achieve excellent traction and high resistance to lateral skidding when cornering. Additionally, the shoulder areas have a rounded profile, which effectively reduces the likelihood of deformation. This, in turn, allows preventing uneven wear of the tread, which significantly extends the life of the tire.
Key features of the Bridgestone Potenza RE080
- Optimized Z-shaped design of the non-directional symmetric tread pattern provides excellent traction in various weather conditions;
- High acceleration and braking efficiency due to the large number of blocks in the central part of the tread;
- Low fuel consumption, thanks to the five-rib structure of the tread, which provides reduced rolling resistance.
