The winter studded tire Bridgestone Blizzak Spike-02 SUV is a modified version of the same model for passenger cars. Being designed for crossovers and SUVs, it differs in other sizes and a modified carcass, adapted for operation on vehicles with increased weight due to all-wheel drive transmission.
Optimized winter road tread
The tire was developed for operation in difficult road conditions in Northern Europe and Russia. The largest part of the adaptation to them fell on the design of the tread pattern. It has a V-shaped structure, thanks to which the contact patch has numerous very long gripping edges. They converge at an angle in the central part, which, on the one hand, provides excellent gripping properties during longitudinal acceleration, and on the other hand, ensures directional stability and steering accuracy during maneuvering, especially on snowy and icy surfaces.
Reliable grip on slippery surfaces
The tire's tread remains very elastic at temperatures significantly below 0 degrees Celsius. This allows it to closely fit even the smoothest road surface, clinging to the smallest irregularities on the surface. As a result, ideal gripping properties are ensured, both during thaws and during severe ice.
Oval studs
Another distinctive feature of the tire is the stud design. It has an increased anchor area, thanks to which the steel element is reliably held in the tread even under significant mechanical stress. In addition, its hard alloy insert has an ellipsoidal shape, which creates a very long gripping edge. This feature provides excellent longitudinal grip on icy surfaces.
Main features of Bridgestone Blizzak Spike-02 SUV
- a tread pattern with a V-shaped structure optimized for winter roads;
- stable behavior on slippery surfaces is ensured by a rubber compound that is elastic at extremely low temperatures;
- studs with an oval hard alloy insert and an increased anchor improve grip on ice, reliably held in the tread under heavy load.
