The summer tire Barum Bravuris 3 is one of the latest innovations from the Czech manufacturer, now owned by the German tire giant Continental AG. This model is distinguished by its excellent fuel efficiency and very long service life. The target audience for this tire is owners of modern passenger cars of various classes. The size range includes several dozen types for wheels with a mounting diameter from 14 to 20 inches. Despite being classified as "energy-efficient" tires, this model has speed indices from T to Y, indicating the presence of a number of other notable characteristics.
Flat tread profile
A distinctive feature of this model is a tread with almost zero curvature. The flat contour provides the tire with optimal pressure distribution across the contact patch, allowing the Czech tire manufacturers to solve several important tasks at once. First and foremost, this is an increase in the durability of the tread blocks to dynamic deformation, which made the tread wear more evenly, leading to an increase in its service life.
High cross-stiffness
When developing this model, great attention was paid to ensuring maximum stiffness of the tread in the transverse direction. To achieve this, the stiffness of the shoulder areas was increased, which received a closed design, while also increasing in size. Additionally, the longitudinal ribs in the central part became more massive, significantly improving the speed and accuracy of the tire's response to steering wheel turns, as well as increasing the directional stability when cornering.
Excellent traction and short braking distance on wet roads
Among other characteristic features of this tire, it is worth noting its excellent traction properties on wet roads. This was achieved by increasing the number of gripping edges. In addition, the specialists of the Czech company applied a new rubber compound, which includes a range of the latest silicon-containing materials. The technology of its preparation was also significantly changed, which made it possible to ensure a more even distribution of all its components.
3-level grooves
Another innovation of the Barum Bravuris 3 is the so-called "three-level" drainage grooves. Their beveled surfaces at a significant angle allowed increasing the stiffness of the tread blocks, which led to a significant improvement in the predictability of the tire's behavior. At the same time, the volume of the grooves was significantly increased. This, in turn, provided the tire with increased resistance to aquaplaning, and therefore, to more reliable handling on wet roads. Another significant advantage of the 3-level grooves is the formation of multiple additional gripping edges, which made it possible to improve traction properties, especially on slippery surfaces.
Low noise level
As mentioned earlier, the shoulder areas of the tread have a closed design. In addition to the above-mentioned advantages, this design has another significant advantage - a reduction in the noise level generated by the tire during movement. This is mainly due to the special blocks in the shoulder areas, which literally "block" sound waves in the central part, not allowing them to spread beyond the tread.
Main features of the Barum Bravuris 3 tire
- excellent fuel efficiency due to low rolling resistance, provided by the tread pattern with five rigid longitudinal ribs;
- long service life is ensured by the even distribution of external pressure across the contact patch, a rigid carcass, a flat profile, high resistance of the tread blocks to deformation in the transverse direction, as well as a wear-resistant rubber compound;
- low noise level, thanks to special blocks in the shoulder areas that block it in the central part of the tread;
- excellent traction properties on wet roads due to the increased number of gripping edges and a new rubber compound made from the latest materials using modern production technologies;
- 3-level drainage grooves provide a significant increase in traction properties, both on dry and wet roads.
