The Avon ZT5 summer tire owes its existence to the North American manufacturer's desire to establish itself in the European market, where tire products are subject to fairly high requirements. This model is an attempt to create a sports tire suitable for everyday use, where not only refined handling is important, but also the level of comfort, starting from the softness of the ride and ending with low noise. It is these traits that are inherent in this model.

Excellent traction properties on wet roads

When driving on wet roads, this tire demonstrates excellent traction properties. This is due to two factors, one of which is the drainage system. Its main components are three longitudinal grooves that serve as a kind of water reservoir. They cope with this task "excellently" thanks to their impressive internal volume. Then, all excess water leaves the contact patch through the shoulder areas of the tread, which have an open design. At the same time, the speed of water circulation was significantly increased due to the location of the lateral drainage grooves against the direction of movement.

The second factor that ensured the tire's excellent traction properties on wet roads is the rubber compound. It is characterized by a high content of silicon-containing components of the new generation. At the same time, their use not only improved the grip on the wet surface but also increased the resistance of the tread to abrasive and uneven wear.

Low noise level

Ensuring quietness while driving was given no less attention during the development of this model than traction on wet roads. To do this, the North American tire manufacturers used a multi-step arrangement of tread blocks. In combination with an elastic rubber compound, this made it possible to minimize the likelihood of resonance noise and vibrations, which, in turn, gave the movement process a very high level of comfort.

Refined handling

As mentioned earlier, this model is distinguished not only by a high level of comfort but also by a sporty refined handling. This is largely due to the double longitudinal rib located on the outside of the asymmetric tread pattern. This element, which has no gaps throughout its length, is characterized by very high structural rigidity. When driving, this feature manifests itself in the form of excellent directional stability at high speeds, as well as high accuracy and speed of execution of the driver's commands.
