For machines that conquer off-road terrain, where every meter is a challenge, special tires are required. The Nokian TR Forest 2 R-1 tire is a tire designed for small and medium-sized forestry tractors, forwarders, and harvesters. Its design is a response to the aggressive challenges of the forest terrain: sharp branches, rocky soils, sticky clay, and waterlogged soil.
Diagonal construction with polyester cord. Unlike standard solutions, a multi-layer polyester frame is used in a rigid diagonal scheme. This design not only reinforces the sidewall but creates a "load-carrying frame" that provides unprecedented stability to the sidewall under extreme load and protects against tears when sliding sideways over stumps and rocks.
The tread pattern is a product of digital modeling. Large, massive lugs with aggressive edges perform a dual function: they provide "digging" traction on weak soils and effectively self-clean from dirt. Wide drainage grooves divert water and silt, maintaining constant contact with the soil.
The most vulnerable areas (sidewall and shoulder area) are reinforced with an additional layer of rubber based on a rubber compound with a high content of natural rubber and special components. This "armor belt" resists wear on the bark, protects against deep cuts from sharp branches, and prevents sidewall punctures. The mixture includes special polymer fibers. This creates an "internal reinforcement" effect, increasing the strength of the tear and resistance to delamination when in contact with sharp rocks and split wood. The tire cracks less with temperature changes and retains elasticity in the cold.
This is not just a tire, but a technological component of the chassis, designed for maximum efficiency and survivability in conditions where the asphalt ends and the real work begins.
