The key difference is a special rubber compound recipe, optimized for low temperatures. This material maintains molecular mobility over a wide temperature range. The micro-roughness of the working surface literally "bites" into the ice crust, providing exceptional manoeuvrability.
An important operational limitation: the softness that gives advantages in winter becomes a vulnerability in summer. When working on hot asphalt or sharp rock edges, this compound accelerates abrasive wear and reduces resistance to cuts.
