Wanmao WSX-179B — a motorcycle tyre with an open off-road tread pattern. Separate, tall tread blocks form distinct edges for off-road performance, while pronounced shoulder elements help maintain grip when the motorcycle leans. The versions listed in the catalogue are marked TT and are designed for installation with an inner tube.
Separate central blocks
Rectangular blocks with sharp transverse edges are positioned in the centre of the tread. Noticeable gaps between them allow the tread lugs to penetrate loose surface layers. Their front and rear edges provide support during transmission of driving and braking forces. Several rows of elements distribute working edges across the tread width.
Shoulder tread lugs
Side block rows continue the pattern onto the rounded edges of the tread. When the motorcycle leans, the contact patch shifts towards the shoulder, engaging these elements. Their outer edges help maintain lateral grip on terrain, complementing the central blocks. A stepped arrangement of the rows ensures a smooth transition between tread areas during leaning.
Open space for self-cleaning
Channels between the blocks connect the central and shoulder zones, providing paths for loose soil to escape. As the wheel rotates, this facilitates clearing the gaps and helps maintain the effective height of the tread lugs. The open design is especially beneficial where grip depends on the ability of the edges to bite into the surface rather than slip over a layer of packed mud.
