Wanmao WSX-097 — a motorcycle tyre with a large-block tread pattern. The wide block surfaces provide solid support on hard surfaces, while pronounced edges and open gaps between the blocks enhance grip when riding on compacted soil or gravel. This design allows combining paved road sections with unpaved terrain without switching to a more aggressive off-road tread.
In the central zone, large polygonal blocks are staggered and separated by angled grooves. The broad surfaces ensure consistent support during straight-line riding, while edges oriented at various angles create effective biting edges for acceleration and braking. This combines stable contact on hard surfaces with additional traction on loose terrain.
Open channels between the blocks are directed toward the shoulder areas. These form pathways for evacuating water and loose debris from the contact patch, helping the tread edges stay cleaner and maintain grip on uneven or contaminated surfaces.
Shoulder elements continue the tread pattern onto the rounded part of the tyre and feature transverse biting edges. As the motorcycle leans into a turn, blocks located closer to the edges come into contact with the road, helping to maintain grip throughout the cornering arc.
In the central area, the blocks are placed closely together and overlap consistently around the circumference. This ensures a smoother transition of contact with hard surfaces, while the open angled gaps preserve the biting edges needed for unpaved sections.
