The Pirelli MT16 GaraCross motorcycle tire has a rather narrow scope of application. This is its main advantage, considering that it is designed for off-road use. A number of design features allow it to withstand use even in the most severe conditions.
Traction properties on earth and stony soils
The tread pattern of this model features an open design with a large number of individual blocks. They are arranged in such a way that when in contact with the surface, they form very long transverse edges of adhesion, which gives the tire the highest efficiency, both when accelerating and when slowing down. Due to the significant height of the blocks, these properties are manifested primarily on earthy soils. At the same time, the large distance between them allows the tread to be effectively cleaned of soil particles that get stuck in it, which is why the tire demonstrates excellent passability.
It is also worth noting the trapezoidal shape of the tread block profile, as well as the presence of numerous lamellas on half of them. These design features give the Pirelli MT16 tire confident behavior on stony soils, including in rainy weather.
Two-layer compound
The design of this model uses technologies that were previously used only in racing tires. One of them is a two-layer compound. Its lower layer is made of a rigid rubber mixture that is resistant to aggressive mechanical stress, which gives the tire reliability when used off-road, as well as excellent handling. In turn, the upper layer has a more elastic compound composition, which is why the tire demonstrates softness on the go, damping a significant part of the impact, providing a good level of comfort when moving on uneven terrain.
