This model was specifically designed for participation in motocross races, which is reflected in its ability to withstand very harsh operating conditions. Another feature of this tire is that it demonstrates maximum efficiency when used in conjunction with the C-19 model, which is installed on the front wheel.
Maximum traction and adhesion properties on soft soils
This model was initially designed with operation on sandy and earthy soils in mind. That's why it's equipped with a tread pattern featuring a very wide central part and relatively small shoulder areas.
The central part of the Mitas C-18 tread pattern contains a large number of rectangular blocks, which form a sufficient number of transverse ribs. In turn, these elements create very long edges, the traction properties of which are enhanced by their concave shape. Due to this, the tire demonstrates excellent traction and adhesion properties in the longitudinal direction.
The shoulder areas also have an open design. However, the blocks in this part of the tread are arranged in a checkerboard pattern. Thanks to this, the contact patch has a large number of edges at its disposal, even at significant motorcycle lean angles. This solution allows for excellent stability when cornering or making sharp maneuvers.
High self-cleaning properties of the tread
Another distinctive feature of this model is the fairly large distance between all tread elements, especially in its central part. Thanks to this, the tread quickly and effectively self-cleans even from large objects and soil particles, which, in turn, has led to a significant increase in passability on loose, unstable soils.
