Two-compound compound
The tread of the tires for both wheels is made of a two-compound compound. The shoulder areas contain a more elastic rubber mixture, which is why this model demonstrates excellent stability when cornering. In turn, the central part is made of a more rigid, but at the same time wear-resistant compound. Thanks to this, the tire is distinguished by stable behavior at high speed and a long service life. In this regard, it is impossible not to mention the numerous X-shaped lamellae. These miniature elements, due to the optimization of the distribution of external pressure on the contact patch, also increase the resistance of the tread to wear and tear, and maintain all the characteristics of the tire at almost the initial level, even with significant wear.
Increased stability on wet roads
The same X-shaped lamellae, when in contact with the road, form numerous edges of adhesion, and also dry the contact patch, improving the stability of the Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT tire when driving on wet roads. When braking, these tread elements increase the coupling properties when braking.
Tread with a profile of varying curvature
Another advanced technology that has found application in this model is computer modeling technologies. With their help, such a profile shape was selected that allowed neutralizing the effect of the significant weight of large touring motorcycles. As a result, the contact patch remains unchanged even at significant angles of inclination, which ensures excellent stability when driving, both in a straight line and in turns.
