Description Yokohama 107ZL
The Yokohama 107ZL truck tire is one of the first models in a whole family of tires developed under the Z.enviroment concept, recently proclaimed by this leading Japanese manufacturer. The main goal of this concept is to apply advanced scientific achievements to reduce the negative impact on the environment by increasing the tire's service life and reducing fuel consumption. This model is designed for installation on the steering axles of highway tractors and is released in three sizes - 295/80R22.5, 315/70R22.5, and 315/80R22.5.
The tread pattern of the tire consists of six solid longitudinal ribs, including the shoulder areas. The solid longitudinal ribs have a high degree of stiffness, which has made it possible to achieve excellent directional stability and fuel efficiency. Additionally, the stiff longitudinal ribs have added responsiveness and precision to the tire's handling.
The shoulder areas of the tread also have a solid construction, but are distinguished by an increased width. Thanks to this, the tire demonstrates reliable and stable behavior when making sharp maneuvers, without any hints of front axle drift.
All six longitudinal ribs are separated from each other by five wide and deep longitudinal grooves, which are one of the main elements of the Yokohama 107ZL tire's drainage system. Another component of the drainage system is the 6000 lamellas, which provide not only excellent traction on wet roads but also contribute to the optimal distribution of pressure across the contact patch, increasing the tread's resistance to uneven wear.
One of the main features of the tread is the original design of the longitudinal grooves, which are designed not only for water drainage but also for cleaning the tread of various solid objects that get stuck in it. For this purpose, the longitudinal grooves have a wavy profile, and special stone ejectors are located on their bottom.
Main features of the Yokohama 107ZL truck tire
- The six-rib symmetrical non-directional tread pattern allows the tire to demonstrate excellent fuel efficiency and directional stability;
- The reinforced construction of the shoulder areas of the tread has improved the distribution of pressure across the contact patch, and also added reliability and stability to the handling;
- Numerous SC-lamellas provide optimal distribution of load across the contact patch, and due to more efficient heat exchange, reduce the tire's heating;
- Five longitudinal drainage grooves and 6000 lamellas allow safe movement even on very wet roads;
