Description Yokohama 106ZS
The Yokohama 106ZS truck tire is one of the first models developed by this Japanese manufacturer under the Z.enviroment concept. The main goal of this concept is to use the latest scientific achievements to reduce the harmful impact on the environment. This model is designed for installation on the steering axles of trucks used in intercity and international commercial transportation. The tire is released in two sizes - 385/55R22.5 and 385/65R22.5.
Unlike its predecessors, the tread of this model is equipped with six longitudinal ribs, separated from each other by wide drainage grooves. The increased number of longitudinal ribs made it possible to significantly improve the directional stability indicators. At the same time, the very small size of the transverse water drainage channels ensured a significant reduction in rolling resistance, which led to an improvement in fuel efficiency indicators, which fully corresponds to the manufacturer's declared concept.
As mentioned earlier, the tread pattern of the Yokohama 106ZS tire contains five longitudinal drainage grooves that can hold a fairly large volume of water, even for a truck tire. To increase the efficiency of removing excess water from the contact patch, the longitudinal grooves are supplemented by a multitude of transverse channels through which water is discharged outward. At the same time, the longitudinal grooves have a wavy relief. This solution made it possible to solve two important problems at once - to reduce the level of noise generated by the tire and to improve the self-cleaning indicators of the tread from various solid objects.
Main features of the Yokohama 106ZS truck tire
- Six longitudinal ribs provide excellent directional stability and fuel efficiency;
- Reinforced shoulder areas contribute to a more even wear of the tread due to the optimal distribution of the load, and also due to more reliable traction, reduced the likelihood of steering axle drift;
- A new composition of the rubber mixture made it possible to improve the main operational characteristics of the tire, including the resistance of the tread to wear;
- A multitude of SC-lamellas allow smoothing out peak loads when driving at high speeds, reducing the temperature of the tire at the same time;
- Five longitudinal grooves in combination with a multitude of transverse grooves made it possible to achieve high efficiency of the drainage system;
- The wavy profile of the longitudinal grooves improved the self-cleaning indicators of the tread, and also reduced the noise level when driving.
