Lanvigator AM201 was created not as a universal "all-terrain" model, but as a specialized "tool" for highway transportation. The tyre was designed to minimize heat generation in the carcass, which directly affects two key parameters of commercial operation: fuel efficiency and tread life.
Closed tread geometry
The tread pattern is based on a classic, but precisely calculated scheme with massive longitudinal ribs. However, the key feature here is not just the "presence" of ribs, but their differentiated stiffness. Unlike standard solutions, the shoulder areas have an enhanced sub-groove layer. When maneuvering with a heavy trailer, lateral forces reach peak values, and it is the stiff shoulder area that counteracts block deformation.
The central part, on the other hand, features two zigzag-shaped ribs. This allows for reduced rolling resistance and maintained steering precision.
Drainage with a margin
The longitudinal grooves between the ribs are of particular engineering interest. They have been given a wavy shape. This geometry creates a variable volume in the drainage channel. When driving on a wet road, water is not simply squeezed out, but "pumped out" in waves due to the pulsation of pressure in the contact patch. This allows for combating hydroplaning and maintaining effective drainage even as the tread wears naturally.
Calculation for the future
For highway trailers, not only wear but also heat is critical. The compound has been supplemented with a high content of technical carbon of a special structure, which provides increased abrasive resistance at relatively low internal friction. This maintains the elasticity of the tread on a wet road and prevents skidding.
The tyre carcass has been designed with regular load changes in mind. The reinforced breaker layer protects against punctures and cuts on problem areas of the road, and the sealing inner layer minimizes pressure loss.
