Open design of the tread pattern
The tread pattern of the GT Radial GT659+D model contains an increased number of gripping edges. They are formed by numerous rectangular blocks that are grouped into six longitudinal ribs, two of which are shoulder zones. This design provides the tire with a number of important advantages, the main of which are increased gripping properties in the longitudinal direction, excellent directional stability, and low rolling resistance.
S-shaped lamellas
On the surface of each tread block, there is one S-shaped lamella. These elements, when in contact with the road surface, form a multitude of additional gripping edges. At the same time, the S-shaped form allows their walls to be tightly fixed to each other, thereby ensuring increased stiffness of the tread blocks, which, in turn, leads to improved handling.
High resistance to uneven wear
Another design feature of the tread pattern of this model is the equal size of the longitudinal ribs in the central part and the reinforced design of the shoulder zones, composed of massive quadrangular blocks. Thanks to this, very even distribution of external pressure is ensured over the contact patch, which not only increases the durability of the tread to uneven wear but also increases the carrying capacity.
