The cargo tire GT Radial GT659+ is distinct from most similar tire products released by this North American manufacturer in its wide range of applications, being designed for operation on the driving axles of highway tractors. The fact is that this particular model was specifically created for use throughout the year, i.e. not only in the summer but also in the winter. For the most part, this ability is provided by the rubber compound, which remains elastic at low temperatures, as well as the tread pattern, which contains a large number of traction edges.
Symmetrical directional pattern with V-shaped design
The first thing that catches your eye when looking at this tire is the tread pattern, or rather its original symmetrical directional V-shaped design. It is formed by the arrangement of a large number of small rectangular blocks, the short sides of which are located at a significant angle to the direction of movement. At the same time, it is impossible not to note that six longitudinal ribs are formed from the blocks. The main advantage of this design is the increased traction properties on slippery surfaces, high fuel efficiency and directional stability.
Excellent traction in the longitudinal direction
Traction edges are formed not only by the above-mentioned tread blocks. On the surface of each of these individual tread elements, there is one wavy lamella, which is cut through its entire depth. When in contact with the road surface, they, when opened, form a multitude of additional traction edges, located transversely. This design feature provides the tire with excellent performance, both when accelerating and when braking.
