One of the main features of the symmetrical directional tread pattern of the GT Radial GDR621 model is the high content of traction edges. Nevertheless, the company's specialists managed to achieve a significant increase in the size of the contact patch. The fact is that all the numerous blocks are located at a slight distance from each other. In addition, their surface has several special lamellas, which, in addition to performing other functions, when in contact with the surface of the road, literally push the blocks apart, significantly increasing the contact patch area. In combination with the numerous edges formed by both the lamellas and the blocks, this provides a significant improvement in traction properties on any summer or winter surface.
Reinforced carcass and increased tread depth
Since the tire is designed for operation on the driving axles of trucks, a number of changes have been made to its design aimed at increasing reliability, durability, and carrying capacity. Most of them "fell" to the carcass, which was significantly strengthened due to the use of steel cord of increased diameter in the cord, as well as an increase in the size of the breaker layer. As a result, it acquired high resistance to deformative changes even when operating with maximum load, which, in turn, led to an improvement in the evenness of the distribution of external pressure over the contact patch and, as a consequence, to an increase in resistance to uneven wear.
In addition, it is impossible not to mention the increased depth of the tread pattern up to 23.1 mm. This design feature also provides an extended service life.

As the tests have shown, the tire has a high level of driving comfort. The multi-step arrangement of the tread elements provided a low level of resonant noise and vibration, and the special shape of the shoulder blocks - softness of the ride and predictable behavior, which significantly simplifies the process of managing a truck.
