Description Barum BS73
The Barum BS73 truck tire is one of the novelties of the Czech manufacturer, which was specially created for poor asphalt, as well as dirt roads. That's why its tread pattern has a block structure, and the carcass has increased strength. Additionally, this model is designed for installation on driving axles.
Excellent cross-country performance
As mentioned earlier, the tread pattern of this model has a block structure. Each of the trapezoidal blocks forms five edges of adhesion, located at different angles relative to the direction of movement. Thanks to this design, the tire grips the surface well with almost any coefficient of adhesion. Additionally, the large distance between the blocks cannot be ignored. This design feature allows the tread to quickly and efficiently clean itself of ground particles that get stuck in it, resulting in the tire demonstrating excellent traction on unstable soils.
High resistance to punctures and cuts
Since this tire was initially developed for operation, including off-road, the Czech tire makers tried to make it as resistant as possible to any aggressive impact. In particular, they applied a deep tread pattern. Additionally, special components were included in the rubber compound that significantly increased the tread's resistance to punctures and cuts, as well as abrasive wear.
Large contact patch size
Despite the fact that the Barum BS73 tread pattern consists of many individual blocks, the Czech tire makers managed to maintain a large contact patch size. This was achieved by reducing the number of blocks, which made them more massive.
Additionally, the size of all tread blocks is almost equal, which allowed for optimal distribution of external pressure on the contact patch, as well as giving it a shape that is as close to rectangular as possible. In combination with the massive size of the blocks, this made it possible to provide stability, thanks to which the tire demonstrates reliable traction, regardless of road conditions.
Low noise level
Quite often, the off-road properties of tires "pull" down a number of other important operational characteristics. Most often, this is the noise level and rolling resistance. To reduce noise and vibrations caused by the excessive number of tread blocks, the specialists of the Czech company used several simple but extremely effective solutions. First of all, they gave the edges of adhesion a significant angle relative to the direction of movement. Additionally, the blocks are arranged with a varying pitch relative to each other, thanks to the use of a classic S-shaped tread pattern, which, in addition, has reduced rolling resistance, and therefore higher fuel efficiency.
Main features of Barum BS73
- the tire is specifically designed for installation on the driving axles of trucks used on both asphalt and off-road;
- the tread pattern with an S-shaped arrangement of elements has a reduced level of resonant noise and vibrations, as well as improved fuel economy;
- the block structure of the tread pattern, thanks to which the tire demonstrates confident behavior on unstable soils;
- the large distance between the blocks provides more reliable traction in mud and sand;
- the massive size of the tread blocks, combined with their equal size, provides a large contact patch size, as well as optimizes the distribution of external pressure on it, which, in turn, has a positive effect on both traction and tire life;
- high resistance to punctures and cuts due to the deep tread, specially selected rubber compound, and reinforced carcass design.
