Грузовые шины Barum BS49
Tire specifications
DescriptionDescription Barum BS49
The cargo tire Barum BS49 turned out to be unusually versatile. Indeed, it was supposed to be so, since the Czech tire makers created this model for various operating conditions, including both asphalt and dirt roads. Another key feature of this tire is the possibility of installing it on the driving axles of a truck, which somewhat limits its scope of application.
Original tread pattern
Since this model was initially developed for operation on various types of surfaces, its design uses solutions inherent in both highway and off-road tires. Particularly noteworthy in this regard is the tread pattern, consisting of five longitudinal ribs.
Rigid longitudinal rib
In the very center of the tread pattern is a wide longitudinal rib, along the entire length of which there are no breaks. This solution is equally effective both on ordinary roads, giving the tire stability and directional stability at high speeds, and off-road, providing protection against aggressive influences. Additionally, it is impossible not to note the reduction of rolling resistance, which is also a result of the presence of a rigid longitudinal rib in the center of the tread.
Excellent traction and grip properties in any conditions
No less interesting is the design of the shoulder areas of the Barum BS49 tread pattern. They represent two rows of separate blocks, made in the form of a semicircle. Such a configuration, combined with their massive size, allowed the tire to provide a whole range of important qualities, both on roads and off them. First of all, these are increased passability indicators off-road, where these blocks "work" as powerful mud catchers, providing more confident overcoming of difficult sections.
Another advantage of this solution is that blocks of such massive size and shape allow optimizing the distribution of external pressure over the contact patch, which, in turn, prevents the development of uneven wear. In addition, the blocks of the shoulder areas increased the area of the contact patch, giving it a practically rectangular shape, which had a very favorable effect on handling.
Long service life
As mentioned earlier, due to the original structure of the shoulder areas of the tread, the tire more strongly resists manifestations of uneven wear. And this ability significantly extends the service life. But much more for this does the tread rubber compound. In addition to providing reliable traction with the road, it, due to the presence of special components, reliably protects it from abrasive wear, which also has a very beneficial effect on the tire's service life.
Main features of the Barum BS49 cargo tire
- exceptionally versatile characteristics allow the tire to confidently feel on both ordinary asphalt and not very good rural roads;
- the original symmetrical non-directional tread pattern provides this model with excellent traction on any surface, regardless of weather conditions;
- the rigid longitudinal rib in the center reduces rolling resistance, improves handling on ordinary roads, and also reduces the risk of damage on rocky sections of soil;
- the blocks of the shoulder areas, made in the form of a semicircle, provide optimal distribution of external pressure over the contact patch, making its shape approximated to a rectangle;
- the open design of the shoulder areas provided the drainage system with increased performance.
