Description Barum BF15
The Barum BF15 cargo tire is one of the novelties of the Czech manufacturer, which has long and fruitfully been engaged in the development and production of tire products not only for passenger cars, but also for trucks of various capacities and purposes. As for this particular model, its scope of application is limited to the steering axle of high-capacity trucks operated on asphalt-concrete roads, both short and long distances. Another key feature of this tire is the presence of two variants of the tread pattern. The presence of one or another tread depends on the size, of which there are four for this tire.
Reinforced shoulder zone design
Unlike previous models, the Barum BF15 tread pattern has wider shoulder zones. In addition, as before, they are a very rigid element of the tread, due to the absence of breaks. The high deformation resistance of the shoulder zones made it possible to significantly reduce the response time to steering wheel turns, making the handling very accurate and predictable.
In addition, the reinforced shoulder zone design allows for a much better distribution of the load across the contact patch, which has had a very favorable effect on the durability of the tire, as well as its resistance to uneven wear, thereby extending its service life. Moreover, with reinforced shoulder zones, the contact shape has taken on a form close to rectangular, thanks to which the tire demonstrates more reliable behavior, regardless of the driving mode and road conditions.
Multifunctional drainage system
Unlike many analogs from competing brands, the Barum BF15 is equipped with a drainage system that can not only drain water from the contact patch. However, let's take it one step at a time. Depending on the version, the drainage system of this tire consists of four or five longitudinal grooves. Their walls have a special profile, often referred to as a "stone ejector". This technical solution allows for quick and effective cleaning of the tread from foreign objects that get stuck in it.
Long service life
Like any modern highway tire designed for use on trucks, the Barum NF15 is distinguished by a very long service life. The Czech tire manufacturers were able to achieve this by applying a whole complex of technical solutions. One of them was a special tread profile, which, in combination with carefully calculated dimensions of its elements, provides a very even distribution of load across the contact patch, thereby preventing the development of uneven wear.
The next component that received equal attention is the rubber compound, or rather its composition, which has received a number of new components. Some of them provided the tread with very high resistance to abrasive wear.
Short braking distance
Despite the lack of a large number of separate blocks, the Barum NF15 has numerous gripping edges. They are located on the longitudinal ribs of the central part and are formed by straight lamellas. When in contact with the road surface, they open up and form the necessary gripping edges, thereby ensuring effective braking.
Key features of the Barum BF15 cargo tire
- The tire is specifically designed for use on the steering axles of trucks;
- Two versions are available – with four or five drainage grooves;
- A multifunctional drainage system that can remove not only excess water but also foreign objects, thanks to the "stone ejectors";
- An optimized tread profile, reinforced shoulder zones significantly extend the tire's service life;
- Excellent directional stability, low rolling resistance, due to the large number of longitudinal ribs;
- Wide and very rigid shoulder zones provide increased resistance to uneven wear, more stable handling, and optimal distribution of external weight across the contact patch.
