Description Barum BF14
Like other representatives of the BF line, the Barum BF14 truck tire has a fairly narrow scope of application, limited to the steering axle of trucks of various payloads, used for transporting goods over both short and long distances. Among other distinctive features, it is worth noting the extremely attractive cost, both of purchase and ownership.
Excellent directional stability and extremely precise handling
Despite the fact that this model appeared on the domestic market quite a long time ago, it still continues to be highly popular. It is based on a very attractive price-quality ratio, for which the tread pattern is largely to be thanked.
It consists of three double longitudinal ribs, located along the entire tread and divided between two drainage grooves. Such a structure, quite unusual for modern steering axle tires, has endowed the tire with a number of important qualities. First and foremost, it is excellent directional stability and extremely short response time to steering wheel turns. Both of these qualities were achieved thanks to the high deformation resistance of the longitudinal ribs, which have a double structure and a solid construction.
Extremely low rolling resistance
Among other distinctive features of the Barum BF14, it is necessary to note the very low rolling resistance. This is due to the almost complete absence of individual blocks. As a result, the tire demonstrates very good fuel efficiency.
Short braking distance
The absence of individual blocks in no way affected the braking efficiency of this model, even on wet roads. Instead, the Czech tire manufacturers used a multitude of S-shaped lamellas, mostly located in the central part of the tread. When moving, these tread elements form a multitude of grip edges, thanks to which the tire grips even small irregularities on the road surface, especially during strong longitudinal accelerations accompanying the braking mode.
Excellent resistance to aquaplaning
Despite the fact that the Barum BF14 tire's drainage system contains only two longitudinal grooves, its performance is at such a high level that it allows confident movement even on very wet roads. The developers were able to compensate for the small number of drainage system elements with their truly gigantic size, for which, in particular, the large depth of the tread pattern is to be thanked.
Main features of the Barum BF14 truck tire
- three double longitudinal ribs have very high deformation resistance, thanks to which the tire demonstrates not only excellent directional stability at any speed, but also quick response to steering wheel turns;
- short braking distance due to the multitude of S-shaped lamellas, forming numerous grip edges during movement;
- high economic efficiency due to low rolling resistance, which, in turn, is ensured by the absence of tread blocks;
- wide and very rigid shoulder areas provide a more even distribution of weight across the contact patch, thereby preventing the occurrence and development of uneven wear;
- a very long service life is ensured by the rubber compound, the individual components of which have significantly increased the resistance of the tread to abrasive wear.
