Description Barum BD22
The Barum BD22 truck tire was specially created by Czech tire makers for installation on the driving axles of trucks that operate in winter conditions over long distances. Its design is ideal for long runs, demonstrating excellent traction and adhesion properties throughout.
Highly Efficient "Winter" Tread Pattern
One of the key features of this model is that it was initially developed with winter operation in mind. This is why its tread pattern features a large number of individual blocks that form six longitudinal ribs. This design provides the tire with excellent directional stability. However, the presence of a large number of traction edges formed by the blocks is even more important. It is these edges that allow the tire to fully transmit the engine's torque to the road surface. Additionally, the blocks are spaced at a significant distance from each other, which enables the tread to quickly and efficiently clear snow particles. This feature significantly improves the tire's traction properties on snowy surfaces.
Very Long Service Life
When launching the Barum BD22 into production, the representatives of the Czech company stated that it has a very long service life. These words are supported by a whole range of solutions. In particular, the tread profile has virtually zero curvature. Due to this, as well as a carefully calculated scheme for the arrangement of tread elements, the tire features very even weight distribution across the contact patch. As a result, the Czech tire makers were able to not only increase the load capacity but also create conditions for uniform wear of the tread across all its sections.
Another factor that determined the long service life of the Barum BD22 is its high resistance to abrasive wear. This is entirely due to the rubber compound, or rather some components in its composition, which provide the tread with protection against aggressive external influences.
Rectangular Contact Patch
As mentioned earlier, the tread of this model has a practically flat profile. In addition to the even weight distribution across the contact patch, this feature allows it to have a practically rectangular shape. Since a very rigid steel breaker layer is located directly under the tread, it remains so regardless of driving conditions and road surface characteristics. As a result, the tire demonstrates stable and predictable behavior.
Key Features of the Barum BD22 Tire
- The tire was specially designed for winter operation when transporting goods over long distances;
- It is intended exclusively for installation on driving axles;
- The block structure of the non-directional symmetric tread pattern provides excellent traction properties on any winter surface;
- The flat tread profile, which distributes external pressure across the contact patch in an optimal manner, and the contact patch itself becomes practically rectangular, making it much easier to handle a truck;
- Long service life, due to the combination of a "flat" tread profile and a specially selected rubber compound;
- Excellent drainage properties are ensured by the open design of the tread pattern.
