The ZX GrandTiger is a series of small pickup trucks developed by the automaker ZX Auto. This version received an original design and an expanded power range. In addition to the licensed Toyota gasoline engine (4Y, 2.2 liters, 103 horsepower), the line included power units from Mitsubishi (4G64, 2.3 liters, 126 horsepower) and a diesel engine from Nissan (QD32, 3.2 liters, 110 horsepower). The chassis design was also modernized: an independent spring suspension on double wishbones was used at the front, and a reinforced leaf spring suspension at the rear. The drive was offered with rear or connectable all-wheel drive with a mechanical transfer case without an interaxle differential.

Global Supplies

A strategic market for the GrandTiger was Libya, where in 2009, the largest export contract at that time was implemented for 6,000 vehicles. Subsequently, during the civil conflict in 2011, these pickups, due to their strength and cross-country ability, were massively used by all parties as improvised technical means, which unexpectedly became evidence of their survivability and even formed a unique militarized image of the model.

In the domestic Chinese market, the "Grand Tiger" was positioned as an entry-level model in its series. In the 2010s, the pickup underwent rebranding and was briefly supplied to Australia as the most affordable pickup on the local market. By 2020, the model had undergone another modernization, focusing on a single but modern power unit - a 2.5-liter turbo diesel with 150 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Russian Sector

In Russia, the predecessor of the model, the ZX Admiral, was supplied from 2004, becoming one of the first official Chinese cars in the country. The "Tiger" itself was imported from 2007 to 2009, however, plans for localized assembly at the Amur plant were never implemented.
