Renault Korea XM3 is a compact crossover of the C segment. Externally, the car is very similar to the model of the same class, Arkana, but has a number of significant differences from it. It has been produced since the end of 2019 in South Korea at a plant formerly owned by Samsung Corporation.

Design Features

The car was first announced through a Samsung Motors press release in early 2019. Serial production with subsequent official premiere began at the end of the same year. Despite the obvious external similarity, the crossover is not a technical copy of the popular in our country Arcana. It was created on a more modern modular platform CMF-B developed by Renault, which it shares with the Captur model. The wheelbase is identical to the Russian "Arcana", amounting to 2720 mm. However, the ground clearance has been reduced to 186 mm due to the use of other components. At the same time, a classic "MacPherson" is used at the front, and a semi-dependent beam and torsions are used at the rear. The car is offered exclusively with front-wheel drive in all modifications. Another difference is the engine range. It starts with a familiar 1.6-liter inline-four petrol engine used in compact Renault and Lada models. This engine is combined with a CVT7 variator from Jatco with "virtual" steps in all versions. An alternative to this "pairing" is a combination of a turbocharged 1.3-liter petrol engine TCe and a 7-speed robotic gearbox with two "wet" clutches from Getrag. For European markets, two modifications with hybrid power plants are offered - with a traction starter-generator or an electric motor with permanent magnets.

Exterior and Interior Design

Externally, the car differs from its Russian counterpart not only with emblems. The rear bumper and lower part of the doors have different inserts and stampings, and the rear lights have a different design of the lighting sources. There are many more differences in the interior, where the common details include the steering wheel and the "petals" of the gearshift. The car is much better equipped even in the standard configuration - an "automatic" with an electromechanical drive, six airbags, a 7-inch touchscreen display of the multimedia system. In more expensive versions, the crossover offers a vertically mounted tablet with a diagonal of 9.3 inches and a fully virtual instrument panel, which is a 10.2-inch screen.
