Tires on LDV (ЛДВ)

The LDV automobile brand was previously owned by a British commercial vehicle manufacturer, which later became part of the Russian GAZ group. However, the financial crisis in 2008 deprived the company of the means for long-term investments, which led to a series of unsuccessful attempts to sell the ownership rights to the brand. As a result, its current owner is the Chinese company SAIC, which launched the production of LDV vans and minibuses in China in March 2011.

History

The LDV automobile brand was established in April 1993 as Leyland DAF Vans, representing a commercial vehicle manufacturing division that was acquired by management after the Dutch truck manufacturer encountered financial difficulties. In January 1994, the brand received its current name. In December 2005, the company was sold to the investment group Sun Capital Partners and underwent restructuring. In July of the following year, it got a new owner - the Russian GAZ group. They had plans to use LDV technologies in the production of commercial vehicles at their own plant in Nizhny Novgorod, where they planned to launch the production of some models of the British brand in the amount of about 50 thousand units. However, these plans were not destined to come true due to the financial crisis in 2008, which deprived the enterprise of long-term investments. As a result, the production of LDV vans in Birmingham was stopped, and GAZ lost control over the brand. After a series of unsuccessful deals, it ended up with the Chinese SAIC, which started producing minibuses and vans at its enterprise in China, which it continues to do to this day.

Model Range

The brand's product line consists exclusively of minibuses, vans, and light trucks. Four main model series were offered, each existing in a large number of modifications and trim levels. Often, platforms and technologies from third-party automakers were used. In particular, the Cub used components from Nissan. The most famous model of the brand was, of course, the Maxus, presented in 2004. Initially, it was planned for joint production with the South Korean Daewoo, but this company ceased to exist even before the practical implementation of this project. As a result, LDV had to acquire exclusive rights from GM together with the equipment of the Daewoo Polish plant and send it to its plant in Birmingham. Another feature of the Maxus is the use of a diesel engine with a Common Rail fuel system from the Italian VM Motori. Such vehicles require special tires designed for intensive use with high loads. Such tires can be found in the "Mosavtoshina" catalog.
