The release of the Jaecoo 7 took place at the beginning of 2023, simultaneously with the debut of the brand, established by the Chinese company Chery. The car occupied an intermediate position, being one step below the flagship model Jaecoo 9 and above the entry-level model with the index 5, being, like them, a crossover. But its positioning was noticeably different, since the concept of use implied application, both on city streets and on rough terrain.

In terms of its dimensions, the crossover turned out to be extremely close to the popular Volkswagen Tiguan of the second iteration, despite the external appearance, which visually increased the car. Another important difference from the German model was the significantly smaller volume of the luggage compartment — 412 liters. To a large extent, this was due to the presence of a full-size spare wheel in the "basement". In technical terms, the crossover offered fairly conservative solutions. Under the hood was a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline "four" developing 186 hp and 275 Nm of torque. The power unit was combined with a 7-speed robotic gearbox from Getrag with two "wet" clutches. The base version was available exclusively with front-wheel drive and a clearance of 196 mm. The appearance of a coupling on the rear axle reduced this figure to 186 mm. Later, a Supreme-V version appeared in the lineup, which stood out against the background of its "classmates" with the presence of individual clutches on the rear wheels.

Interior

The salon was distinguished not only by the minimalist design of the front console but also by the presence on it of a huge display of the multimedia system, installed vertically. Its diagonal, depending on the configuration, was 13.2 or 14.8 inches. Another important feature was the "off-road" aesthetics in the form of massive door handles and exposed head bolts. The central tunnel had a two-story structure, on the upper part of which were located buttons for heating seats, blowing the windshield, controlling the climate unit, and turning on the multimedia system screen, along with the "disc" of switching driving modes and the transmission joystick. Also, on the upper platform, there were two compartments for smartphones, one of which had wireless charging.

Modified Version

In the fall of 2025, the Chinese brand presented a crossover of the next iteration. Compared to its predecessor, it differed significantly in its thoroughly redesigned exterior, especially in the front part, where an enlarged bumper with a imitation of power protection and a narrower radiator grille appeared. No less significant changes were made to the technique. Under the hood was a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with an output of 147 hp and 210 Nm, which was combined with a 6-speed robotic gearbox and front-wheel drive exclusively. Another difference was the equipment, which included 6 airbags, cameras with a 360-degree view, keyless entry, parking sensors, climate control, panoramic roof glazing, adaptive cruise control, voice control of the multimedia system, as well as 18-inch alloy wheels.
