The IM car brand belongs to the Chinese company of the same name, a joint venture created as a result of the partnership between SAIC Motor, Zhangjiang Hi-Tech, and Alibaba Group. It is engaged in the production of electric vehicles of various classes. The brand name means "intelligence in motion".

History

The IM Motors joint venture was established in December 2020. In January of the following year, a 3D rendering of the brand's debut model, a mid-size sedan and direct competitor to the Tesla Model S, was presented. In April 2021, the company presented three concepts of future "electric cars" at the Shanghai Auto Show - the L7 sedan, the LS7 and Airo crossovers. The development of the exterior was handled by English designer Thomas Hairevik. Serial production of the brand's cars began in December 2022. The first to appear on the assembly line was the LS7 crossover, the sales of which began in the second half of 2023, but only on the domestic market of China. In August of the same year, the company presented the LS6, a variant of the LS7 crossover with a coupe body.

Partnership with Audi

In July 2023, the German company Audi announced the start of cooperation with the Chinese company SAIC Motor, which will provide the European partner with access to the platform used in IM brand cars. The goal of the agreement is to create a line of models of the German brand, intended exclusively for the Chinese market, where they will compete with products from companies such as NIO.

Model Range

Currently, the brand's product line consists of three models - the full-size L7 sedan and the two mid-size LS6 and LS7 crossovers, which use the same platform and components. All cars use the intelligent IM AD driving assistance system, built on the basis of a dual laser radar and Nvidia Orin X chip. All cars are very dynamic "electric cars". They are offered in two variants - with one-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. In the latter case, a 2-engine scheme is used, where the front axle receives at least 270 hp, and the rear axle receives up to 776 hp in the case of the LS6 crossover. At the same time, these machines have more than enough autonomy. Even in all-wheel drive versions, they have a range of up to 700 km.
