Denza D9 — a next-generation minivan released under the premium Denza brand, created in partnership with BYD Auto. The model, which started its production run in 2022 as a symbol of the brand's updated philosophy, offers a choice between a purely electric (EV) and hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. This is the first vehicle in its class to be built on two advanced architectures at the same time: electric versions use a specialized platform from BYD e-Platform 3.0, and hybrids use the high-efficiency DM-i platform.

Technological Basis

The powertrain combines a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an intelligent hybrid system EHS170, providing a total travel distance of up to 1040 km, of which up to 190 km can be covered exclusively on electric traction. The system supports fast charging with a power of 80 kW, and the average fuel consumption in hybrid mode is only 6.2 l/100 km. The fully electric van demonstrates all the advantages of BYD's engineering platform, offering a quiet, dynamic, and environmentally friendly ride.

Evolution

The model is constantly evolving, receiving significant improvements with each model year. The 2024 update brought improvements such as a standard system for smooth door closing, physical buttons on the steering wheel, and updated interior trim options. A year later, for the 2025 model lineup, the van made a qualitative leap: the hybrid version switched to a new-generation platform, and the advanced driver assistance system BAS 3.0+ with lidar became part of the basic equipment for all modifications. The interior was supplemented with innovations such as an additional screen for the passenger, seats with a weightlessness effect in the second row, and an improved on-board refrigerator.

Interior Space

The cabin represents the concept of a "smart space" of the premium class. In top trim levels, passengers are surrounded by up to seven interactive displays, including a projection monitor, a 15.6-inch central screen, and individual screens on the back of the seats. The flagship equipment includes massage with 10 modes, ventilation, and heating in the captain's chairs of the second row, as well as an integrated TS Link system for mirroring smartphones. Practicality and comfort are emphasized by three zones of wireless charging and a refrigerator accessible from the second row of seats.
